The Tax-Payers’ Money Hard at Work

29 Sep

Here’s what cash-strapped schools are now spending money on:

Hair straighteners have been brought into some schools to encourage girls to participate in PE. What next? Makeup? Tanning beds? An on-call stylist and dry cleaning service? A manicurist? I don’t think catering to girls’ vanity is the way to go, regardless of whether it’s working or not. I think it’s sending out the wrong message.

What I don’t understand is how the girls are allowed to not participate? Why are they being given the option? When I was in school, you had to participate. And if someone had asked to be provided with a hair straightener, you’d have been laughed at, or told off. Besides that, we didn’t have time to do our hair.

Wait until some poor girl burns herself, or someone else, and a parent sues.
