Meet Our Cat

05 Jun

This is our cat, whom we’ve adopted. He belonged to one of our neighbours who moved away a while back. She left the cat. We were already feeding him quite regularly, but when his previous owner moved, he started coming inside the house. We’ve never really managed to properly name him. When he first started coming around, we just called him Meemee, which is what we call all cats, and the name just kind of stuck. We’ve tried other names, such as Gary and Furry Murray, but they never lasted. Meemee has also evolved to Mimbo, Jimbo, Bimbo (don’t ask).

He spends a lot of time in our house, and sometimes he spends the night. We set up a litter tray for him, using shredded paper and newspaper. He has a lovely little bed, but for some reason, he sometimes he prefers to lie in his litter tray (the litter tray is always clean, btw; he only uses it at night, and only rarely then, and we clean it first thing. If he uses the litter tray, he moves to his bed).

He’s such a sweet cat. He loves to lay on my lap, but he rarely plays. He’s really friendly, but he hates other cats and frequently gets into fights. Having a pet has been a great experience for Stiggy, too. It’s his responsibility to fill his dry food bowl, brush him, and choose his pouch (of wet food) each morning.

However, he is a bit of a Six Dinner Sid, because after chatting to our next door neighbour, we’ve realised about 3 other people on our street feed him, too, and we’re sure we saw him sitting on the window ledge inside someone else’s house.

Oh well, no one ever said cats were loyal. We love him anyway.

Now, if we could just think of a good name for him…

So cute! Thanks for the suggestion, Rosie; I'll see if Stiggy likes that name. 🙂
