Bath Bombs

08 May

Stiggy and I made some bath bombs today. Since our lavender plants are just babies, we thought we’d make mint bombs. I picked a few mint leaves from the plants in the garden:

Then I dried them for a few minutes in the oven:

In a small bowl we mixed 1 tbs citric acid with 3 tbs baking soda:

Next, we added the dried, crumbled mint leaves:

Then 10 drops of peppermint essential oil and 1 tsp olive oil:

Now for the really fun part. We spooned the mixture into a cookie cutter:

And pressed it in firmly:

We had some mixture left over, so we used a measuring spoon to make a mini bomb:

Popped it out:

Unfortunately, the star bomb crumbled when I removed it from the cutter (maybe we needed a bit more oil or should have left it to dry first), so we reformed the mixture into more minis:

We let them sit for about an hour, then popped 2 into Stiggy’s bath and they fizzed away beautifully and smelled wonderful. ๐Ÿ™‚

Next time we’re going to try lemon bombs made with lemon essential oil and grated lemon rind.

This recipe, and many others, are available in:

These sound great – I’ve browsed through the book in the bookshop and it’s definitely on my wishlist!
